Circuit Theory Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words - 1

Circuit Theory - Essay Example The paper Circuit Theory appears and depicts a few figures with the two-way hybrid's work. At frequencies path over the pass band, the pace of increment in weakening is 12dB/octave at a 90 degrees stage move which goes to 180 degrees at high frequencies. The pace of the lessening here relies upon the channel request, which thus is dictated by the quantity of responsive segments in the stepping stool. For example for our situation here there are two receptive parts, consequently the channel request is two and its pace of weakening is given by nx6dB/octave = 12dB/octave since n=2. Its reaction at various estimations of n is as demonstrated as follows. A two-way hybrid has a mix of a high pass and a low pass channel which could be utilized to drive a tweeter and an amplifier simultaneously. These two could be taken care of from a similar model of a speaker if and just on the off chance that it can suit the recurrence scopes of them two. Anyway this is a wide range thus it’s difficult to think of such an intensifier, henceforth the two-way hybrid is utilized. With the low pass channel structured as clarified before its high pass partner can be gotten from it following the basic truth that their recurrence reaction is equal of each other. This implies weakening of a low pass channel at state a recurrence of w=2 is equivalent to the equal high go at w=0.5. Getting from this the high pass channel segments are the proportional of the standardized low-pass channel, with the end goal that where there are capacitors in the low pass model they are supplanted by inductors in the high pass model.

Where to Find APUSH Practice Tests

One of the best ways to get ready for the AP US history test is by taking a practice test. An AP US History practice exam gives you a sense of what to expect on the real thing and helps you know how to focus your other study efforts. Here are a few places where you can find an APUSH practice test. Official APUSH Practice Test The best, most accurate APUSH practice tests are, of course, those that come directly from the test maker. Your options here are limited, but high-quality. College Board has released one full-length APUSH practice test. You can download the pdf here. While this is the only full-length test College Board offers, they do have other questions available. You’ll have the best luck if you’re looking for practice with free response questions. All of the free response questions from the real APUSH exams have been released for 2015-2017. You can find those here by scrolling down about halfway under â€Å"Exam Questions and Scoring Information.† For all but the most recent exam, you can also find sample student responses and see how they were scored. This can be a great guide to how you’ll do on the test and show you how to improve your writing. Older free response questions (2014 and earlier) are also available here. The test has been redesigned since then, so these older questions aren’t 100% true to what you’ll see on test day, but they can be another good source of practice. For multiple choice, your options are more limited. Unlike the free response questions, real multiple choice questions from past exams are not released. The full-length practice test discussed above is the only official source of multiple choice questions. Unofficial APUSH Practice Tests There are several places where you can find AP US history practice exams and questions. Barron’s offers a great full-length APUSH practice test that the company claims closely mimics the real thing. Also, make sure that the book is from 2015 or later to make sure it’s been updated for the redesigned exam. The newer, the better. Strapped for cash? Don’t forget about your good old local library. Many libraries stock test prep books. Check them out for free and take the practice tests on your own time. Just be sure to write on your own paper, not in the book, unless you want to face an unhappy librarian. Additional APUSH Practice Questions While not full-length practice tests, the following resources provide helpful practice questions to help you prepare for the APUSH exam. Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History This site has a 19-question quiz aligned to the real APUSH exam. The official College Board AP US History website also links to the Gildern Lehrman APUSH review, so it’s a good bet that this is a high-quality resource. Beyond practice questions, Gilder Lehrman’s AP US History Study Guide is a great source of review. For each period, it has concept outlines, videos, timelines, documents, and essays. Albert This site has TONS of practice questions. You do have to sign up for an account to take the quizzes, but it’s totally free for a basic account. One great thing about this site is that it’s totally customizable. You can get really picky with the topics you’re looking to study. For the multiple choice, the questions are organized by period, and then further broken down into quizzes for subtopics of each period. Beyond that, once you click on a subtopic, you can either take the whole quiz for that subtopic, or you can click on one or more tags to further filter the questions. For example, there are 70 questions about Period 1. Within that, you could take a 48-question quiz on the Columbian Exchange. However, if you’re looking just for questions on the slave trade within the Columbian Exchange, you can open the quiz, click on the â€Å"slavery† tag, and get just the 4 practice questions that are specifically about that topic. The site also keeps track o f your progress and gives you an accuracy percentage. The site also has lots of free response questions of all types available, also organized by period. However, these are not available with the free account. You can purchase access to these questions by upgrading to full access to the subject for $29.99. Khan Academy Khan Academy is a great free resource for studying for the AP US History exam. In addition to their many text and video lessons, they have multiple choice practice questions for each period. These questions do NOT follow the format of the actual test since they are not all accompanied by source documents; however, they do provide a great topical review. And of course, you can always find lots of great practice questions and other resources right here on the Magoosh AP US History blog!

The Great Pyramid Of Giza - 930 Words

Giza, an area located southwest of what is now known as Cairo, is home to one of the most astonishing and mysterious feats of architecture ever assembled, The Great Pyramid. Located approximately 5 miles west of the Nile River near the city of Cairo, Egypt, The Great Pyramid is part of a larger complex called the Giza Necropolis, which also houses the Great Sphinx, and two smaller pyramids. It is said to have been built by the enslaved citizens of Khufu, second ruler of the 4th dynasty, and son of Snefru. Although archaeologists have since disproved that theory. The pyramids are said to have been built to house the deceased bodies of the pharaohs after they have transitioned into the after-life. However, there is no evidence of this being the case. There are many questions surrounding the Pyramids of Giza, some of which, might not ever be answered. The Yellow Wall-Paper Essays (1325 words) - , Term Papers

The Yellow Wall-Paper The Yellow-Wallpaper as a Social Criticism Traditionally, men have held the power in society. Women have been treated as a second class of citizens with neither the legal rights nor the respect of their male counterparts. Culture has contributed to these gender roles by conditioning to these gender roles by conditioning women to accept their subordinate status while encouraging young men to lead and control. Feminist criticism contends that literature either supports societys patriarchal structure or provides social criticism in order to change this hierarchy. The Yellow Wallpaper, by Charlotte Perkins Gilman, depicts one womens struggle against the traditional female role into which society attempts to force her and the societal reaction to this act. From the beginning of this work, the woman is shown to have gone mad. We are given no insight into the past, and we do not know why she has been driven to the brink of insanity. The beautifulEnglish place that the woman sees in her minds eye is the way men have traditionally wanted women to see their role in society. As the woman says, It is quite alone standing well back from the roadIt makes me think of English placesfor there are hedges and walls and gates that lock, and lots of separate little houses for the gardeners and people. There is a delicious garden! I never saw such a gardenlarge and shady, full of box-bordered paths, and lined with long grape-covered arbors with seats under them. This lovely English countryside picture that this woman paints to the reader is a shallow view at the real likeness of her prison. The reality of things is that this lovely place is her small living space, and in it she is to function as every other good housewife should. The description of her cell, versus the reality of it, is a very good example of the restriction women had in those days. They were free to see things as they wanted, but there was no real chance at a woman changing her roles and place in society. This is mostly attributed to the small amount of freedom women had, and therefore they could not bring about a drastic change, because men were happy with the position women filled. This creates a despair, of hopelessness and of downheartedness. The woman, on multiple occasions, wrote down, And what can one do? This lets the reader know that women as a whole were very oppressed in this time. They had a role, and had to stick to it. In fact, their roles were so minor that at one point, she writes, He is very careful and loving, and hardly lets me stir without special direction. In this, one may begin to realize that men had such a high ranking over women, that the small amount of freedom a woman had was basically dictated still by her husband. Men often times did not know much about their wife, or care to sit down and talk with her. They did not take great care to know how she was doing, or why she was feeling the way she was. The woman says, John does not know how much I really suffer. He knows there is no reason to suffer, and that satisfies him. The woman is showing a small amount of frustration towards her husband, because he does not concern himself with such small things. The role of women in society was displayed quite clearly by the entrance of Johns sister. The woman writes, There comes Johns sister. Such a dear girl as she is, and so careful of me! I must not let her find me writing. She is a perfectionist and enthusiastic housekeeper, and hopes for no better profession. I verily believe she thinks it is the writing which makes me sick! Johns sister is representative of the typical woman. A woman who is pleased with her life, and wishes for no more. Johns wife, however, is rebelling on her place in society by writing. This is why she includes the statement; I verily believe she thinks it is the writing which makes me sick! Women were quite noticeably looked down upon in years past. The quote from the womans writings states, I

Free Essays on Casual Dress

Think of an executive, a lawyer, an accountant, and other professionals who provide an image of high status associated with their occupations. If I were to ask you to give me a description of what their outer appearance would be like in today’s environment, could you? You might be surprised to discover your mental picture differs quite a bit from the current style of today’s workplace. Despite the constant changes in the corporate and professional dress code that take place every year, I still perceive the professional businessman such as a senior executive to be clothed from head to toe in the traditional formal attire. The images of dark colored two-piece suits, matching ties, mid-length skirts, and shiny leather shoe and heels still lingers from my upbringing; labels that will forever convey to me a sense of intelligence, education, and professionalism in a highly regarded field. There is this growing trend in the corporate industries that has brought up many controversial debates. The trend of â€Å"casualization† has spread through corporate America like wildfire. Dressing down in the corporate workplace is not just for Fridays anymore nor is it solely reserved for Internet start-ups alone. The trend may have begun at Silicon Valley during the sixties, with computer companies allowing their employees to dress more comfortably to promote productivity and creativity. It has now come to transform many of today’s Law firms, brokerage houses, and other corporate companies from all across America. FEMINIST THOUGHT Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words

FEMINIST THOUGHT - Essay Example he was in favor of equality between men and women, was against discrimination, and her harsh life experiences transformed her to a feminist with a different viewpoint on equality. As pointed out, Sojourner Truth fought for the wellbeing of women and to hinder the progress of social evil barriers like discrimination and marginalization in the society. She spoke about anti-slavery and womens rights, often giving personal testimony about her experiences as a slave. She strongly argued against the inequality among man and women in the name of gender status, and male supremacy. Joy Hakim points out that â€Å"She works for womens rights, black peoples rights, prison to reform, and temperance† (N.pag.). While there, she tried to challenge discrimination based on racial identity. As a womens rights activist, Truth faced additional burdens that white women did not have, plus the challenge of combating a suffrage movement which did not want to be linked to anti-slavery causes, believing it might hurt their cause. Yet, Truth prevailed, traveling thousands of miles making powerful speeches against inequality among men and women, slavery, and for womens suffrage. Besides, and she preached a combination of feminist Christianity, abolition, inequality and women’s rights. In general, Truths view of the social relation of the sexes differed totally from the prevailing philosophy that women should be a silent, or should be placed on pedestals. If institutions in the public sphere, such as the courts, were not fit places for women, she thought they were unfit for men as well. She declared she could work as much as a man. In her 1867 speech, she claimed to be over eighty years old, and said that she would live more years to see women get their rights man is so selfish that he has got women’s rights and his own, too, and yet he would not allow women to enjoy their rights. Personally, I consider that life experiences transformed Sojourner Truth to an activist. Truth was a lover

Pyschology Cast study assignment Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1500 words

Pyschology Cast study assignment - Essay Example (Plante, 2005: 63). They believe in themselves, but their perception of their own self image is also affected by the feedback from others. In Steven’s case, his father’s constant criticism and ridicule in childhood, coupled with a lack of the father’s love, time, care and support may have threatened Steven’s image of himself as a strong person and a real â€Å"male†, thereby affecting his self esteem. In effect, his father’s behavior was tantamount to rejection of Steve, especially when he failed to sympathize with Steve when he was bullied, further eroding Steve’s self image as a male through a failure to identify with the only male he knew as a child. This has only been compounded by his mother’s attitude to him. Abnormal behavior may arise when the spectrum of basic needs that an individual has, such as air, water, food, love, belonging and self actualization, are not satisfied. (Simson and Strauss, 2003: 178). Steven’s mother was too affectionate to her son, so when she abruptly refused to let Steve into her bed, it appears likely that the boy would have perceived this also as a rejection. The causal act leading to the rejection was his masturbation, but he is unable to control this, thus placing him in a position where masturbation in the presence of a real woman appears wrong – leading to feelings of anxiety and guilt, with an impairment in his sexual function, as evidenced in his failure to perform with his girlfriend. Steven’s anger at his mother for ‘rejecting’ him is expressed in his anger against women, and the only time he is able to allow his sexuality to thrive without associat ed feelings of guilt, is when he sees celluloid women being hurt and violated because this makes him feel powerful. The feelings of depression Steven has been suffering from can thus be attributed to the conflict between his self worth and the reality of his parents’ ‘rejection’, which has produced feelings of anxiety and

Encoding Essay Example for Free

Encoding Essay It is known that information about the outer world is encoded either consciously or subconsciously. Therefore, two types of information encoding exist: automatic and effortful processing. The main difference is that automatic processing suggests that people absorb information about the world without any efforts, whereas effortful processing is absorbing information due to rehearsal or repetition. For example, people automatically absorb information about time, space and frequency. In its turn, consciously people process names, phone numbers and other information they are unfamiliar with. Nevertheless, more information is encoded automatically and information that is repeated or rehearsed is kept in mind for less time compared with information absorbed without conscious effort. Brain capacity allows people to remember things without paying proper attention to them. However, it is rather difficult to get rid of information obtained both automatically or effortful. There is one more interesting thing: it is claimed that even effortful information can become with time subconscious. For example, when children learn how to read, they have to repeat words and letter, but with the years of practice reading and writing becomes automatic process. Therefore, automatic and effortful processing are interrelated in a certain way. It is proved that effortful processing ensures more durable memories compared with automatic one. Due to attention and effort people can absorb more interesting facts and necessary information: through rehearsal information is encoded for storage, though, for example, information absorbed just before sleep is hardly remembered. So, effortful processing provides more benefits than automatic one because it allows to process information more carefully and thoughtfully.

Ken Sandes The Peace Maker Essay -- Ken Sande Peace Maker Essays

Ken Sande's â€Å"The Peace Maker† A â€Å"biblical guide to resolving personal conflict†, this, in a nutshell is what â€Å"The Peace Maker† is all about. In this critical book review I will be taking topics from the book and giving the reader my personal views on how I either reacted or related to the topics covered. My goal for this paper is to give the reader a non-biased opinion of â€Å"The Peace Maker†, which was published by Baker Books in June of 2004.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  To first critique a book you must have some background information on the author himself and why he is qualified to write a book on conflict management through a biblical perspective. Ken Sande is the author of the book as well as being the president of Peacemaker Ministries, which is a company designed to offer Christians conflict training by using the bible and its scriptures. Mr. Sande who is an engineer and lawyer by trade has been using his peacemaking skills since 1982 to solve conflicts in business, in the church and in family disputes. Ken is a Certified Christian Conciliatorâ„ ¢ and has served on such committees as the Christian Legal Society and the Dispute Resolution Committee of the State Bar of Montana, which is where he earned his qualifications to write this book.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã¢â‚¬Å"The Peace Maker†, is what I would describe as a self-help book that can be read by anyone that wants to have a solid understanding of conflict resolution and it does not matter if you are a Christian or not this book makes good points on how to solve conflict. If you are a non-Christian this is a bit harder of a read because of the constant reference to the bible and its scriptures but there are a lot of valid points that are made even without the references to the bible.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  The purpose of this book is to inform the reader of the best course of action to take when trying to resolve conflict while at the same time preserving God’s good grace, which can be difficult even at the best of times. In order to do this the reader must stick to the four G’s of biblical conflict management which are to Glorify God, Get the log out of your own eye, Gently restore and Go and be reconciled. By following these four G’s you will bring praise to God and hopefully open up others to his glorious ways. At times in the book the author’s point of view goes from being an informer of ways to deal with conflict into being more of a preacher of the... ...this is in chapter 9 where he states that you can read one of his other books to get more information on being a reconciler but a reconciler does the same thing a mediator does but not to the same extent.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  In conclusion, this book has showed me some good techniques to solving conflict and has showed me that the bible can have an influence on people even if you are not a Christian, like myself. I do admit that this book is not for everyone but if you can look past the downfalls that I have pointed out and find the relevant information this book can be an essential tool to any mediator or negotiator. I think this would be an excellent book for any person who is involved with the church who plans on taking on mediator roles because â€Å"The Peace Maker† offers great tips on how to bring estranged siblings back together as well as reuniting failed marriages. I would suggest this book to anyone that is taking a conflict management course that has not had the opportunity to see how to solve conflict from a biblical perspective because to be an effective mediator or negotiator you should be able to use all the resources available to solve any conflict that might be presented to you.

Respiratory Therapy

The Path of Respiratory Therapy Introduction About a year ago, I came home from work one night and walked into the kitchen to where my mother was standing. There was a feeling of uneasiness and the panic began to clench my stomach. She looked so sad, so stressed; maybe it was the frizzy hair, the bags beneath her eyes, the way her back slouched in a low negative curve, or her eyes. Her eyes looked at me before she turned them away, but in that fragment of a second, it’s almost like I could look inside her narrow eyes and search until I would come upon this thing. This thing has no name, but it scares her. She wouldn’t exactly explain to me what it was but I felt the sudden movements of uncertainty with the way she shifted her body and tilted her gaze away from mine. It’s almost like I started to feel scared too. The expression that was set on her face gave me such a feeling that went straight to my heart. My mother sat down with me that night and explained that he r sickness had become idiopathic, meaning that it was created from an unknown cause. The malfunctions that inhabit her body are respiratory related and deals with her lungs.Every week, she attends respiratory therapy and completes several breathing treatments. The therapists who have taken care of her, year after year, have set a positive influence and have created a better outlook for her. I have been inspired to become a respiratory therapist to help patients, like my mother, who suffer from breathing complications. My overall goal is to give people the opportunity to experience their lives as long as possible. Setting a positive outlook for others will help build a base for patients to be happy once again.Respiratory therapy is extremely popular with the amount of people who are diagnosed with breathing disorders every year. From 2010-2020, employment is expected to grow by 28 percent (â€Å"Occupational Outlook Handbook†). This is faster than the average growth for all ca reers. Thousands of people are employed as respiratory therapists across the country. In Indiana, the number ranges just over 3,000 people (â€Å"Occupational Outlook Handbook†). Whether working here or in a different state, hospitals are always in need of medical help.As people become elderly, it is essential for them to breathe to stay alive; that is where the necessity of respiratory therapists comes in. Job Description Respiratory therapists eat, sleep, and work mainly in hospitals. It is common to work in nursing homes or even travel to patients’ homes. From the time babies are born to the adults reaching old age, they assist anyone who has breathing difficulties. Typically, RT’s interview/examine patients, perform diagnostic tests, treat patients, monitor/record the progress of treatment and teach patients how to use treatments (â€Å"Occupational Outlook Handbook†).The environment in which they work in is extremely clean to prevent patients from ca tching bugs that can put their health in more danger. Though the salary ranges from state to state, Indiana’s respiratory therapists are able to make around $50,000 a year (â€Å"Occupational Outlook Handbook†). Depending on the shifts that are worked, therapists can make a bit more by working on holidays and even night shifts since hospitals are always open. Qualifications The more education experienced, the greater chance applicants will successfully obtain the job of a respiratory therapist. At minimum, an associate’s degree is needed. Many colleges and universities, vocational-technical institutes, and the Armed Forces offer training-most programs even award an associate’s or bachelor’s degree (â€Å"Occupational Outlook Handbook†). Respiratory therapy is particularly science based and requires a certain amount of credits from classes. Important courses taken are human anatomy and physiology, chemistry, physics, microbiology, pharmacology , and mathematics (â€Å"Occupational Outlook Handbook†). In order to receive the license for a respiratory therapist, an exam is to be taken. This exam is important because employers prefer to hire those of who have successfully passed. If therapists are certified, there is a greater chance of obtaining the job. Studying for long hours and keeping steady grades pays off in the end. Opportunities Growth in the middle-aged and elderly population will lead to an increased incidence of respiratory conditions such as emphysema, chronic bronchitis, pneumonia, and respiratory disorders that permanently damage the lungs or restrict lung function (â€Å"Occupational Outlook Handbook†). Knowing this, the demand for respiratory therapy will increase. When medications and treatments improve, so will the need for therapists to help patients. There will always be factors that continue to harm the health of people such as pollution and smoking. There are other types of therapists that come close to the career of one in the respiratory field. Though some require a bachelor’s, master’s or even a doctoral degree, select trainers and therapists still hold the duty of treating patients. From physical to radiation therapy, therapists use different techniques to help treat problems that many people suffer from.Depending on what field of therapy the career is in, the salary can range from $40,000 to around $80,000 (â€Å"Occupational Outlook Handbook†). Conclusion Since the time that I decided what I wanted to do, I have taken steps in the right direction to obtain the career that I want. Before I started college classes, I saw an advisor and specifically asked for the courses that I needed in order to get into the medical program. General studies for respiratory therapy include classes in which I have to achieve high grades. If my grades are not the best, I may not get accepted for the medical program. As long as that does not happen, the positive o pportunities for this career will lead me to a successful life without the fear of losing this job. As I mentioned before, respiratory therapy will be demanded more as conditions get worse, causing a rise in treatments for patients and a higher demand for therapists.Reference Bureau of Labor Statistics, U. What Is the Correct Pronunciation of February

While Feb-RU-ary is still considered the standard pronunciation, most dictionaries recognize the pronunciation of February without the first r (Feb-U-ary) as an acceptable variant. Varying Opinions on Pronouncing February Not everyone is so tolerant. In his Big Book of Beastly Mispronunciations (2005), purist Charles Harrington Elster defends the traditional and cultivated pronunciation. February, he says, is a different word and a different month, with a peculiar spelling, a peculiar pronunciation, and a very peculiar number of days, all of which adds up to the fact that we must treat the creature with particular respect. Yet in common speech, the shortest month has long been abused. In The New Schoolmaster, a one-act play that appeared in Sargents School Monthly in May 1858, Mr. Hardcase says of February that there is a prejudice in favor of an r at the beginning of the second syllable; but if you choose to drop it, wheres the harm? Why People Drop the R in February The loss of the first r in the pronunciation of February is (in part) the result of a process called dissimilation (or haplology), where one of two similar sounds in a word is sometimes changed or dropped to avoid the repetition of that sound. (A similar process sometimes occurs with the pronunciation of library.) More simply, as Kate Burridge points out in Weeds in the Garden of Words (2005), the standard pronunciation of February takes considerable effort, and in normal rapid speech were likely to drop the first r. Also, the pronunciation of January has probably contributed to the simplified pronunciation of February. There are, of course, many discrepancies between spelling and pronunciation in English. As David Crystal reminds us in The English Language, [S]peech came first, in the history of our species, and English spelling hasnt been a good guide to pronunciation for hundreds of years.
